Thinking Seminary (Part III)
Before moving on in this series and in light of the previous posts, I thought it would be beneficial to list 10 books every prospective seminary student should read. Most of these guys are still living, and that was purposeful. I think it is important to read dead guys, obviously, but there is something to be said about the faithful men of today and the writings they put together. This list is by no means exhaustive, but I feel that it does cover many of the essentials (i.e. God, Church, Community, Worship, Discipleship, Evangelism, Marriage, etc…). Happy reading!
- Total Church: A Radical Reshaping Around Gospel and Community by Tim Chester & Steve Timmis
- 9 Marks of a Healthy Church by Mark Dever
- Instruments in the Redeemer’s Hands: People in Need of Change Helping People in Need of Change by Paul David Tripp
- Desiring God: Meditations of a Christian Hedonist by John Piper
- Knowing God by J.I. Packer
- The Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan
- Tell the Truth: The Whole Gospel to the Whole Person by Whole People by Will Metzger
- The Cost of Discipleship by Dietrich Bonhoeffer
